Ibn `Abbas, Qatadah and Al-Hakam bin `Uyaynah said, \"The gift of a son who has a son,'' meaning that Ya`qub was the son of Ishaq, as Allah says:",{"kind":14,"text":19},"﴿ فَبَشَّرۡنَـٰهَا بِإِسۡحَـٰقَ وَمِن وَرَآءِ إِسۡحَـٰقَ يَعۡقُوبَ ﴾",{"kind":11,"text":21},"(But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaq, and after Ishaq, of Ya`qub) (11:71). `Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam said, \"He asked for one (son), and said,",{"kind":14,"text":23},"﴿ رَبِّ هَبۡ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ ﴾",{"kind":11,"text":25},"(\"My Lord! Grant me from the righteous.'') So Allah gave him Ishaq, and gave him Ya`qub in addition.",{"kind":14,"text":27},"﴿ وَكُلاًّ۬ جَعَلۡنَا صَـٰلِحِينَ ﴾",{"kind":11,"text":29},"(Each one We made righteous. ) means, both of them were good and righteous people.",{"kind":14,"text":31},"﴿ وَجَعَلۡنَـٰهُمۡ أَٮِٕمَّةً۬ ﴾",{"kind":11,"text":33},"(And We made them leaders,) means, examples to be followed.",{"kind":14,"text":35},"﴿ يَہۡدُونَ بِأَمۡرِنَا ﴾",{"kind":11,"text":37},"(guiding by Our command,) inviting to Him by His leave.
